The State Levels Program is a competitive program for gymnasts who wish to compete but who cannot dedicate themselves to amount of hours of the Squad level gymnasts.  Athletes are welcome to transition from our Squad National Levels Program to the State Levels Program should they wish to train less hours.

This stream of gymnastics starts at Level 3 and goes through to Level 8/Open. Once a child has gained sufficient skills in the Recreation Gym program or if they have been chosen / selected by our top coaches who show natural talent, motivation and determination they can move over to the State Levels Program. This stream offers competitions and displays on training 4 – 9 hours a week.

Each level has a variety of skills and routines the gymnast must learn on each apparatus. Once a child has mastered the skills in a level, they may compete those skills in routines at the club and state organized competitions.  Competitions in this stream are compulsory.

This stream of gymnastics allows all children to achieve and have success competing in gymnastics in a fun but still challenging environment.

The State Levels programs is available for both WAG (Women’s Artistic Gymnastics) & MAG (Men’s Artistic Gymnastics).

    Program Goals

    • State Levels Program has been designed for all gymnasts who love gymnastics and wish to go more than once a week but who cannot dedicate themselves to the hours of the squad program and would like to further experience the diverse benefits of gymnastics.
    • State Levels program is more training hours than the Recreation program but less hours that the Squad program
    • State Levels program allows all gymnasts to compete for NDGC.
    • The State Levels program is not as demanding as the Squad Program.

Not all gymnasts improve at the same rate, or wish to compete at a competitive level. The NDGC Development Program is a special program for young gymnasts who are not old enough to compete at a squad level however they show good athletic ability, co-ordination, flexibility & strength and show that they have the skills to be a competitive gymnast in the future.

Gymnasts are selected by our top coaches who show natural talent, motivation and determination to achieve excellence in Gymnastics at a competitive level, and show strengths in the following areas..

    • flexibility
    • co-ordination
    • muscle strength
    • ability to follow instructions
    • determination

The Gymnasts within the selected program, move through the development levels at their own rate. Each Gymsport has different levels and each level may train from between 1.5 hrs per week to 9 hrs per week accordingly.

From within the Development Program, gymnasts may be then selected to further their abilities by invitation into our National  Competitive Squads or our State Levels Program (WAG & MAG Only)

There are several different pathways with NDGC Gymsport structure. We strongly believe whilst each child develops at different times and stages, we also believe that each Gymsport needs to have a fun and enjoyable element to be successful.

Our NDGC Squad program caters for National Level and Elite Level gymnasts with the desire and ability to excel in competitive gymnastics at various events throughout the year. Gymnasts selected will compete in individual and team competitions at Club, Regional, State, National and International events. Our squad program focuses on mastering high level skills, exceptional strength and conditioning and are prepared with the routines to be the best they can be.

NDGC offers a variety of competitive squad programs, where gymnasts can train up to 25 hours per week. Gymnasts that are selected to be part of our squad program are chosen by our top coaches who show natural talent, motivation and determination to achieve excellence in gymnastics on a competitive level.

Commitment for the full year is an expectation in this program. As part of being selected into the Squad program, gymnasts must commit to attending all allocated competitions selected by the club and also attend all the regular training sessions each week.

We offer the following squad programs:

    WAG Squad Program
Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) consists of 4 apparatus which are Vault, Bars, Beam and Floor. The NDGC runs a successful competitive WAG Squad Program. We start from Level 3 through to National Level 10 and International Levels. Once the girls reach National Level 8 they get the opportunity to be selected to represent WA at the Australian Championships. The WAG Squad Program is by selection only, and while gymnastics is an individual sport, it is based on a team concept.

The MAG Program is currently expanding thanks to our dedicated coaches and committed gymnasts.

    International Level (IL) Program
The International Levels (IL) program was introduced in NDGC since the      re-structure of the WAIS program in 2017. The program is for very talented WAG gymnasts, who show potential for the sport at an international level. Entry into the program is by invitation and assessment by our senior WAG coaches. The club’s goal is to provide the highest level of coaching and competition experience for the gymnasts to achieve the highest standard achievable. The gymnasts train more than (18+) hours per week, and are guided by our award winning coaches.

Most importantly, NDGC encourages a positive team spirit to achieve strong life values in our athletes.

Aerobic Gymnastics are currently running a highly successful competitive program including Level 1 – Level 7 as well as International levels.

Athletes included in our squad program are multi National and International Medallists. Aerobic gymnastics is a great sport for all ages, as it allows athletes to progress quite quickly through our national levels program. Aerobics also gives athletes a great opportunity to travel and compete around the country and even the world.

Aerobic Gymnasts perform complex high intensive movement patterns which originate from traditional aerobics with a high degree of perfectly executed elements of difficulty. The routines demonstrate creativity with the perfect integration of all movements, music and expression. It combines the elements of aerobics, sports acrobatics, rhythmic gymnastics along with music dance and choreography. You can compete as an individual, pair, trio or group. Many athletes compete in a mixture of divisions as they like the team spirit and comradery.

Acrobatic Gymnastics is a competitive gymnastic discipline where partnerships of gymnasts work together and perform figures consisting of moves, dance and tumbling, set to music.  It is the perfect sport to teach your child balance and co-ordination as well as sharing in the benefits of working within a team environment.

    Acrobatic Gymnastics:

    • Enhances balance, co-ordination and agility
    • Develops posture and confident body movement, including the ability to land safely
    • Challenges the mind and body to reach new goals
    • Builds strength and flexibility for challenge in life
    • Is the perfect team based sport for people of all ages and abilities

Acrobatic Gymnastics is a beautiful, dynamic and spectacular sport for both men and women. The sport develops courage, strength, stamina, co-ordination, flexibility, jumping abilities, adroitness etc. Sports acrobatics unites its power and poise, with grace and beauty to create an intriguing sport. Acrobats in groups of two, three and four perform routines with the heads, hands and feet of their partners.

Team gym is a competitive program that combines various apparatus with music to create an exciting team competition event. The Australian Team Gym program has been developed for teams of gymnasts, with performances on 3 different apparatus.

    • Floor
    • Tumbling (click here for an example of mixed team gym tumbling)
    • Vaulting / Mini trampoline

The program is split into novice, intermediate and advanced levels and has the potential to incorporate harder skills depending on coach and gymnast competencies.

    Free G

FreeG is short for Freestyle Gymnasitcs and is an exciting new concept that appeals to kids who love to trick, flip, tumble and jump. It is like parkour, free running, street gymnastics and extreme gymnastics all in merged into one. Instead of learning the skills outside on hard surfaces, the skills are learned in a safe padded environment with qualified coaches.

FreeG harnesses imagination and creativity while providing an avenue for self-expression and play and develops strength, flexibility and co-ordination through freedom of movement and fun.

FreeG was introduced to its members in 2017, and is coached by Channel 9’s Ninja Warrior competitor ‘Shannon Ducker’!

    Wed & Fri: 6.15-7.30pm.

    Sat: 1.15pm-2.30pm.

The NDGC offers School Programs for primary and secondary schools. We take bookings from one-off lessons to full-term and year programs.

Our coaches can run programs at your school or alternatively you can come and train at WA’s premier gymnastic club. Alternatively, lessons can be booked at our club in Balcatta using our excellent facilities.

The programs are developed to fit the individual needs of each student/school and tie in with the requirements of the Australian Curriculum. All of our coaches have nationally recognised accreditations and valid working with children checks.

On top of general gymnastics we are available to help your school prepare your students to compete in the Interschool Gymnastics Challenge which occurs around August every year.

What does gymnastics training offer young children?

Gymnastics is one of the few sports that can offer children the opportunity to tip upside down and develop physical abilities that are important for their overall development. Gymnastics is the basis for all sports and by incorporating gymnastics based training into children’s weekly activities, you will increase their ability to perform physically and mentally. Studies have shown that children who are exposed to gymnastics are physically, mentally, and emotionally stronger and more capable by 30%.

    Additional benefits gymnastics offers:

    • Enhanced self-esteem through learning skills not taught in any other sport
    • Development of spatial awareness
    • Development of safe landing skills (applicable to all sports and life situations)
    • Improved strength, posture and coordination (also applicable to all sport and life situations)
